Kumaraswamy submits resignation to Governor

After losing the trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening.

Upon accepting Kumaraswamy’s resignation, Governor Vajubhai Vala told him to continue as the caretaker CM of the State, till a new government takes over. However, Kumaraswamy could not take any executive decisions during this period.

Meanwhile, BS Yeddyurappa-led BJP is now likely to stake claim to form the government. According to reports, the party’s final call will only be known after its legislature party meeting on Wednesday.

On the other hand, after losing the trust vote, HD Kumaraswamy said, “I am totally relieved and the happiest person in the world now. I will not retire and will fight back. Let us see.”

Interestingly, BSP supremo Mayawati has expelled BSP MLA N Mahesh after he abstained from voting during the floor test. She had directed the MLA to vote in favour of HD Kumaraswamy.
