The last rites of eminent educationalist, linguist, writer, and administrator Tabu Ram Taid will be performed with full state honours today. The last rites will be performed at Gogamukh, his native place. The Mising Autonomous Council has selected the land for performing the last rites.
Taid passed away at Apollo Hospitals in Guwahati on Saturday morning at the age of 77. He left behind his wife, a daughter and a son. His mortal remains will be airlifted to Ghunasuti village from Guwahati at around 10 AM and his relatives informed that the last rites will be performed after 3 PM in Gogamukh.
Apart from the first dictionary in the Mising language, Taid’s other works include three research papers on the Mising language published in the reputed international journal Linguistics of the Tibeto-Burman Area, University of California, Berkeley, USA. Taid also wrote the script for Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s tele-film Miri Jiyori.
