Lata turns 90, to receive ‘Daughter of the Nation’ honour

Veteran Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 90 today, will be conferred with the ‘Daughter of the Nation’ title on Saturday as a tribute to her contribution to Indian music over the last seven decades.

Her song ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’ dedicated to the martyrs of the Indian and China wae moved the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to tears.

Having recorded thousands of songs in her career, Mangeshkar had featured in the Guinness book of the world record in 1974. She was also honoured with Bharat Ratna in 2001.
