At a time, when Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders including president Atul Bora has supported the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), former Chief Minister and senior AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta reiterated his stand on the contentious bill. He also slammed party leaders for their comments supporting the CAB.
Reacting to AGP president Atul Bora’s remarks after the meeting with Union Home Minister regarding CAB, Mahanta said, “It is very shameful that the leaders of the party, who were involved in the historic Assam movement, have supported the CAB.”
“Though CAB, BJP is trying to bring illegal immigrants to Assam like the infamous Badan Borphukan had brought in army troops from Myanmar to dethrone the Ahom king in the 18th century,” said the former CM.
He also thrashed Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his remarks on Assam Accord. “Once Himanta welcomed those, who had signed the Assam Accord.”
