The Supreme Court on Sunday will hear a plea of Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) against Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s decision of inviting BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis to form the government in the State.
The joint petition by Congress, SS and NCP requested the SC to order a floor test at the earliest. They also alleged that the oath-taking ceremony was illegal and sought quashing of Maharashtra Governor’s decision to swear-in BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Minister of the State.
“We have asked for an urgent floor test. The law demands a floor test. On Sunday at 11:30 am, the Supreme Court will hear the matter. We hope that democracy and law will win,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Saturday.
Meanwhile, NCP said that it has the support of 50 MLAs. Only 4 MLAs, including Ajit Pawar, are not with Sharad Pawar.
