On Thursday, Guwahati police arrested a man named Nitin Kumar Rajput for trying to scam a woman by assuring her government job in return of money. The man claimed that he is a personal assistant (PA) of Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Rajput, a resident of Dispur, was arrested and taken into custody in Pan Bazar police station following a complaint from the woman who did not fall into the evil trap on pretext of a job in Assam's social welfare department.
The woman, in her complaint at the Pan Bazar Women's police station, informed that the man contacted her through Whatsapp messenger and assured her of the job in return of Rs 3.5 lakh. In one of his messages, he claimed that he works for Himanta Biswa Sarma and is his PA.
Rajput also asked the woman to meet him in private in a city hotel. He constantly persuaded the woman to accept his job offering by paying the hefty amount first and meet him in private.
