In yet another shocking incident in 21st century Assam, an old man was brought to a hospital in a hand-cart. The incident took place at Ward No.4 in Lanka town under Hojai district, where family members of the man took him to a health centre on a hand-cart.
According to his family members, they dialed Mrityunjoy – 108 Ambulance Service, but the ambulance service denied service citing bad road. Hence family members carried him to a health centre in a hand-cart.
At a time, when Health as well as PWD Minister of the State, Himanta Biswa Sarma is busy making big claims on constructing roads and providing proper healthcare ; this kind of incidents in villages and small towns across the State show the real conditions of the rural health services as well as the conditions of rural communication in Assam.
