The Government of Assam has set May 1, 2020 as the deadline for the completion of solid waste management plant at Lekai in Dibrugarh district.
Project Director of Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Programme (AUIIP), Binod Sesan reviewed the ongoing solid waste management plant at Lekai on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Pallab Gopal Jha participated in the review meeting along with other officials. The prime demand of Dibrugarh citizens is to set up a waste management plant so that the people could get relief from the garbage related problems in the town. Presently, Dibrugarh doesn’t have scientific garbage disposal system and the wastes are dumped at Maijan in an unscientific way.
In 2017, the state government has sanctioned Rs. 48.49crore for the setting up of the solid waste management plant at Lekai.
On Tuesday’s review meeting DC Pallab Gopal Jha said that the state government has set a deadline on May 1, 2020 for the completion of solid waste management plant at Lekai. Jha said. “A meeting was held at DC office regarding the ongoing work of the solid waste management plant and we are sure that the solid waste management plant will solve the decade old age problem of garbage disposable in Dibrugarh. The plant will be set up in 210 bigha plot of land.”
