Meghalaya’s COVID-19 tally crosses 1,000-mark

Seventeen fresh cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Meghalaya on Saturday, pushing the state's tally to 1023, an official statement said.

The fresh cases have pushed the total number of active COVID-19 cases to 594.

Of the 17 persons who tested positive, 12 are in East Khasi Hills district, three BSF personnel in West Garo Hills district, and two persons in North Garo Hills district, Director of Health Services, Aman War said to news agency PTI.

Twelve people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24- hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 423, while six persons have died from the deadly disease.

Of the 594 active COVID-19 cases, 453 are from East Khasi Hills district, the director said, adding, Ri-Bhoi district has 65 active COVID-19 cases, West Garo Hills (31), West Khasi Hills (6), East Jaintia Hills (18), West Jaintia Hills (15), two cases each in North Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills district.
