Midday meal workers shall not be removed says Govt.

"The cook cum helpers working in the schools shall not be removed; they shall be continued as usual" – a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been executed with 15 NGOs in the state for setting up centralised kitchen.

It is clearly mentioned in the MoU that cook cum helpers working in the schools shall not be removed; they shall be continued as usual.

The concerned NGO should involve all the existing cook cum helpers working permanently in the concerned schools and make payment of Rs 1,000/- as honorarium per month per head as per government norms and rules : MoU

This agreement is effective from 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2021 and will be renewed every year based upon the performance of the NGOs.

Meanwhile, midday meal workers of Assam hit the streets here, opposing the state government's move to hand over the cooking and distribution of the meals to non-government organisations (NGOs).

In August this year, the Centre told the state government that it may use the facility of centralised kitchen for midday meals in urban areas only.
