MLAs reach assembly wearing ‘Black’

Assam Congress and AIUDF MLAs reached Assam assembly on Wednesday wearing 'Black clothes- materials' in protest against the Bihali incident, where a toddler was made to remove his black jacket at an event attended by the CM in Bihali under Biswanath district on Tuesday noon.

MLAs Rupjyoti Kurmi (Congress), Nurul Huda (Congress), Aminul Islam (AIUDF) and Jakir Hussain Sikdar (Congress) were seen in black clothes. The MLAs had challenged the government and said "If you have guts, arrest us".

The opposition had staged uproar in the assembly over Citizenship Bill issue on Monday. They were demanding to scrap the Bill terming it a clear threat to the indigenous languages and the culture of Assam.

As the Black flag protests continue in the state against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, Assam government had applied the new method to get rid of the black flag protests. People wearing black or carrying any black cloth on them were kept out of CM's rally in Bihali on Tuesday. People had to remove 'Black clothes- materials' outside the event venue, while taking part in the event.
