Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative, Debabrat Saikia slammed Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Monday and said that he is “Anti Hindu”. Saikia said that the Bharatia Janata Party (BJP) dont care about the sentiments of the ingenious people of Assam and is supporting the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 whereas the other regional and indigenous organizations are opposing it.
Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan, Saikia said that the funds of many schemes announced by Modi Government are yet to be released. He also said that Modi is good at announcing schemes but bad at implementing it.
The Congress MLA from Nazira Constituency stated that Congress would continue their protest against the Citizenship Bill. He also took a jibe at Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and said the CM is backing the bill for his greed to be in power. He also said that the ST status to six communities is nothing but a “ political jhumla’.
Saikia also said that the corruption during BJP’s regime has increased than that of Congresses.
It is to me mentioned that the much-debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on February 12th, 2019, as the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament slated to end on February 13th, 2019.
