More Relaxations In Protocols After Covid Situation Improves: Keshab Mahanta

Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta on Sunday stated that more relaxations will be made after the Covid situation improves in the state.

The Assam government on Friday has issued a revised SOP wherein the lockdown like restrictions have been extended to 5 am of June 16. Further total ban of individuals have been relaxed to 1 pm instead of 12 noon, as notified in the previous SOP.

The minister said as the prevailing situation is improving the government will make a decision soon on further relaxations of protocols.

Mr. Mahanta also mentioned that for Post Covid care ICUs are being set up in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and in other district hospitals and medical facilities as well.

Moreover, hinting that during the third wave of Covid-19, there are high chances of children being infected with the deadly contagion, the minister informed that every medical college and district hospital will have pediatric ICUs.

The nation is gearing up for the upcoming third wave of the coronavirus. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that unlike during the second wave where 28,000 people were being infected everyday, in the third wave atleast 38,000 people will be affected by the virus every day.

Meanwhile, last week in Maharashtra, a certain district reported 9,000 Covid infections among children, hinting that the third wave may have possibly hit India.
