Muhammed Anas sets new national 400 metres record in Czech Republic

Indian sprinter Muhammed Anas Yahiya has broken his own national record in the 400m race in an event at the Czech Republic on Saturday.

Anas set the new mark at 45.24 seconds while winning gold as compared to his previous record of 45.31 seconds while finishing fourth at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

The new record was set at an event at Velka Cena Nove Mesto nad Metuji near Prague where he is preparing for the upcoming Asian games with other quarter milers.

The Athletics Federation of India congratulated the star athlete on Twitter saying, "Congrats Mohd. ANAS for breaking his own 400m #Indian record in #Czech Rep. New Record-45.24s, Previous Best-45.31s Congrats coach Galina Bukharina for success of #HimaDas and #Anas!,"

Muhammed Anas had bettered the national record earlier as well at the Polish Athletics Championship when he clocked 45.50 seconds, becoming the third Indian to qualify for the Olympics in men's 400m category, after Milkha Singh and KM Binu.
