Mumbai-based animal rights activist Hema Choudhary was arrested on Friday from Mumbai by Nagaland Police, a PTI report said.
She was arrested from her residence in Oshiwara, a suburb of Mumbai.
Earlier, Choudhary had made offensive remarks against the people of Northeast India in a YouTube video.
Post the remarks, an offence was registered by Nagaland’s cyber crime police station under the relevant sections of the IPC.
The PTI reported senior inspector Dayanand Bangar of Oshiwara police station as saying, “On Friday, a Nagaland police team informed us about the case and then went to Hema Choudhary’s residence and arrested her. She will be taken to Nagaland for further probe.”
