The Nalbari district Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Saturday staged a massive dharna programme against the party leaders for their support to the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). They staged the protest during the district general meeting of the party.
The grass-rootworkers of the regional party staged dharna and shouted various slogans againstparty leaders including president Atul Bora, working president Keshab Mahanta. Theworkers also criticised party leaders for 'insulting' the martyrs of thehistoric Assam Movement.
AGPleader Dilip Patgiri was also present in the meeting. The district committeetook the resolution to oppose the CAB.
It maybe mentioned here that earlier in the day, AGP leaders including minister PhaniBhusan Choudhury and MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita also had to face the wrath ofthe party workers.
The contentiousbill is likely to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday (December 8).
