01. NDRF Deploys 16 Special Teams For Assam Flood

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 16 special teams for relief and rescue operation of Assam flood, informed Director General of NDRF S N Pradhan. He also stated that the flood situation in the state has improved slightly

02. Assam Floods: 123 Animals Killed In Kaziranga

The Kaziranga National Park (KNP) has been inundated in water in the third wave of flood. Around 92 percent of the park has been submerged underwater. The park authority said that 152 camps have been inundated with flood. The authorities informed that a total of 123 animals have been killed in the flood including 12 rhinos.

03. Kumbh Mela 2021 To Be Held On Schedule: Uttarakhand CM

The Kumbh Mela will be held in Haridwar as scheduled in 2021, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said on Wednesday, adding that its scale will be decided as per the prevailing situation at that time.

04. Guwahati: Brahmaputra River Flows Above Danger Level

The Brahmaputra River has been flowing above the danger level at Kachari ghat in Guwahati due to the incessant rain. According to the Central Water Commission, the water is flowing 8 cm above danger level and that the water level is rising by 2 cm per hour.

05. Assam: 376 Inmates May Be Released For Decongesting Jails

The Assam Inspector General of Prisons Dasarath Das said the Assam Prison has sent a proposal to the High Powered Committee of the government to release 376 prisoners in the next few days in order to decongest eight overcrowded jails across the state after 535 inmates tested positive for COVID-19.

12. JEE Main: Admission Criteria For NITs And CFTIs Relaxed

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said due to prevailing circumstances of coronavirus pandemic, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other CFTIs. JEE Main 2020 qualified candidates will  only need to obtain a passing certificate in class XII examination irrespective of the marks obtained.

13. Mizoram: Frequent Earthquakes Make Residents Shift To Tents

In Mizoram's Champai district residents are spending nights outside their homes in makeshift tents due to a series of earthquakes that have hit the state. So far, at least 22 earthquakes have rocked four districts – Champhai, Saitual, Siaha, and Serchhip since June 18.

15. Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal Distributes Grants-In-Aid To Sports Association

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal distributed annual grants-in-aid to District Sports Associations and State Sports Associations affiliated to Assam Olympic Association (AOA) through a video conference at Brahmaputra State Guest House on Thursday. Notably, an amount of Rs 34,800 each was distributed to 25 district sports associations and Rs 72,752 each was distributed to 29 state sports associations.
