01. Defence Ministry Writes To CBFC To Obtain NOC For Airing Military Content

The Defence Ministry has written to the Central Board of Film Certification, urging that production houses may be advised to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry before telecasting any film, documentary or web series on an Army theme, sources said.

02. Assam: General Admin Dept Issues Unlock 3 Guidelines

The state government of Assam has issued guidelines for Unlock 3 to be started on August 1. However, Assam will not follow the entire guidelines issued by the Center from tomorrow but will go for partial implementation to keep the COVID-19 situation under control.

03. Baghjan: Expert Panel Blames OIL For Blowout

The expert committee to analyze the Baghjan fire incident formed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) stated that Oil India Limited (OIL) is responsible for the incident saying that there was a fault in operation plan that led to the blowout in the oil well no 5 at Baghjan in Tinsukia district causing extensive damage to environment, flora, fauna and local residents.

04. Assam Floods: Death Toll Climbs To 109

With 1 more death reported in Kokrajhar district the death toll due to flood in Assam have risen to 109 as per Assam State Disaster Management Authority report on Friday evening. The number of districts affected by the flood water remains 21 out of 33 districts.

Bhutan King Jigme Khesar thanked Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his government for helping Bhutan in tackling the pressing situation precipitated in view of the COVID 19 induced lockdown.

06. Ban on International Flights Extended till August 31

India on Friday extended the ban on international commercial passenger flights till August 31. But the restriction shall not apply to international cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

07. ED Files Money Laundering Case Against Rhea Chakraborty

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has lodged a money laundering case against Rhea Chakraborty in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. Top officials in the probe agency have confirmed that Rhea and her other family members have been booked by ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

08. Sikkim Extends Total Lockdown Till August 3

The Sikkim government on Friday extended the complete lockdown in the state till August 3 in view of increasing coronavirus cases, a senior official said. As per the revised guidelines from the Home Department, the lockdown remains extended till 6 am on August 3, a notification issued by Chief Secretary S C Gupta said.

09. Martyr Pranay Kalita's Mortal Remains Reaches Pathsala

Martyr Pranay Kalita's mortal remains who died in Manipur Ambush on Thursday have reached his home town in Pathsala on Saturday afternoon. The body of Martyr Kalita reached Borjhar Airport on a special flight. After reaching the airport, Assam Rifles jawan and officials of State Government paid tribute to Kalita. Commissioner of Police Munna Prasad Gupta, CISF Commandant Lalalmohan Thakur also paid tribute to Martyr Pranay Kalita. His body has been sent to his own hometown Pathsala by an ambulance where his last rites will be performed. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also paid tribute and condoled the death of Kalita.

10. SC adjourns UGC final year exam case

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday adjourned the matter pertaining to the plea against the University Grants Commission (UGC) decision on mandatorily conducting final year examinations till August 10. UGC had asked all universities to conduct examinations in offline, online or blended mode by September end.

11. 292 BSF, Army personnel COVID-19+ in Meghalaya

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma informed the state has a total of 588 active cases out of which 292 are BSF and Armed Forces personnel. Meanwhile, 210 patients have recovered to date. Five deaths have been recorded. The total confirmed cases so far stand at 784.

12. India: COVID-19 recoveries passes one-million mark

The Indian Health Ministry on Friday informed that COVID-19 recoveries have crossed the one-million mark in the country. The officer on Special Duty in Health Ministry said," The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients increased from 7.85 per cent in April to 64.44 per cent at present, and added, "The recoveries are 1.9 times the number of active cases of COVID-19".

13. US crosses 150,000 coronavirus deaths

According to the data presented by John Hopkins University, the death toll from coronavirus infections in the United States crossed 150,000 on Wednesday evening. The university also confirmed the nation has the largest coronavirus infection of 4.4 million cases. The coronavirus deaths in the US make up nearly 23% of the global pandemic deaths. The death tally counts for over 661,000.

14. Lt Governor Blocks Two Unlock 3 Moves By Arvind Kejriwal Government

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party government had allowed hotels to reopen from Saturday and a one-week trial for the weekly markets in the city as part of "Unlock 3". Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal who represents the central government and chairs the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, has ruled that these orders cannot be implemented and blocked the two moves.

15. Google Parent Alphabet Sees Ad Sales Escalate

Google's ad sales have recovered since plummeting in March during the coronavirus pandemic, parent Alphabet said on Thursday, easing concerns about its first quarterly sales slide in its 16 years as a public company.
