01. BJP, Assam Pradesh State Committee 2020-23 Announced

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh has announced the 2020-23 state committee members on Tuesday. The President remains Ranjit Das while the general secretaries are Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Pallab Lochan Das, and Phanindra Nath Sarma.

Four Assam candidates have brought laurels to the state by clearing UPSC mains examination 2019. The candidates are Aranyak Saikia, Tapan Deka, Nibedita Dutta, Sejal Agarawal, and Kishore Sutradhar.

04. Yoga Institutes, Gymnasiums To Lift Shutters from Tomorrow

The government issued fresh guidelines for gymnasiums and yoga institutes which have been allowed to lift shutters from Wednesday (August 5) during Unlock 3. The guidelines said that that the yoga centers and gymnasiums which fall under containment zone shall remain closed until further notice.

06. Two Large Explosions Rock Lebanon City

Two large explosions shook Beirut in Lebanon on Tuesday, severely injuring many people, witnesses stated in a Reuteurs report. According to RT news, the first explosion struck the city's port area after 6 pm local time. Another blast took place in the city center.

08. 50% Of COVID-19 Deaths Are People Above 60 Years

The Indian ministry of health and family welfare said on Tuesday said, 50 per cent of COVID-19 deaths in India took place in the age group of 60 years and above, while, about 37 per cent of COVID-19 deaths occurred in the age group of 45 to 60 years, and 11 per cent of deaths were recorded in the age group of 26 to 44 years.
