04. Assam Covid Update: 3,804 New Cases, 37 Deaths

Assam on Monday reported 3,804 fresh cases of the deadly contagion – coronavirus with a positivity rate of 3.06 percent. The active caseload of the state is 48,672. 37 deaths have been reported, while, 4,613 cured patients were discharged.

05. Around 35,000 Students Take Delhi University Open-Book Exams

Nearly 35,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students took the online open-book exams of the Delhi University (DU) on Monday and no technical glitches were reported, officials said. Monday was the first day of the exams and the officials said all the 35,000 students uploaded their answersheets using the portal and there were no email submissions.

06. 20 Killed In Lightning Bengal, PM Announces Compensation

At least 20 persons were killed in lightning strikes in three districts of south Bengal on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the deaths and approved an ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed and ₹ 50,000 for the injured.

07. Pending CBSE Class 12 Practicals, Internal Assessments To Be Held Online

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday directed schools to conduct pending Class 12 practicals and internal assessments only in online mode, and submit marks by June 28. In a letter sent to schools, CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said that it has been observed that some schools have not been able to complete the school-based assessments in various subjects due to the Covid pandemic.

08. 160 Cr Rehabilitation Programme For 4063 NDFB Cadres: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reviewed the status of implementation of the BTR Accord and approved a rehabilitation programme for 4036 NDFB cadres involving Rs. 160 crore.

In an unprecedented incident, eight including three passengers sustained major injuries after Vistara's Mumbai-Kolkata aircraft hit turbulence just 15 minutes before landing. The three passengers were admitted to a local hospital in Kolkata.

10. Pune: 12 Killed In Massive Fire At Chemical Plant

In an unprecedented incident at least 12 workers were killed after a major fire broke out at a chemical plant in Pune on Monday, several news outlets reported. Five employees are reportedly still trapped.
