01. China Abducts 5 Persons From Arunachal Pradesh

In a shocking development, five people from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been abducted by Chinese PLA. This has been confirmed by Congress MLA from Pasighat West Assembly constituency, Ninong Ering. In a tweet, he wrote, "SHOCKING NEWS: Five people from Upper Subansiri district of our state Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been 'abducted' by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA)."

02. Prez Kovind Confers National Teachers' Awards

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday conferred the National Teachers' Awards to 47 teachers from across the country for their contribution in developing innovative methods of teaching, various news outlets reported.

03. Rajnath Singh Meets Chinese Defence Minister Amid Border Dispute

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday pushed for "restoration of status quo at all friction points in eastern Ladakh" during talks with his Chinese counterpart Gen. Wei Fenghe in Moscow, a PTI report stated. The focus of the talks that lasted nearly two and a half hours was on ways to resolve the prolonged border standoff, sources said to PTI.

04. Assamese Compulsory Till Class X: Himanta

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the Assamese subject has been made compulsory till Class X in English medium schools. He said that the new education policy will revive the mother language it has been made compulsory in the schools.

05. Fake Doctor Arrested In Dibrugarh District

The Tingkhong Police have arrested a fake doctor or quack working at Tingkhang Tea Estate on Friday night. Identified as Pankaj Kumar Nath, the accused allegedly had worked at several tea gardens across the state using different fictitious names in the past.  

06. Ayodhya Mosque's Size To Be Same As Babri Masjid

The trust formed for the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya after the Supreme court verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, said that it will of the same size as Babri Masjid. The five-acre complex in Ayodhya's Dhannipur village will also house a hospital, a library and a museum among others, said an office-bearer of the trust.

Assam in the NorthEast region topped the ease of doing business ranking 2019, while Andhra Pradesh retained its top position nationally, the commerce and industry ministry released the State Business Reform Action Plan Ranking on Saturday.

09. Railway Announces 1.40 Lakh Posts

National transporter's board chairman VK Yadav on Saturday said that the Indian Railways will start conducting the first stage of computer based exams from December 15, 2020. During a virtual briefing, Yadav informed the exams will be held to fill 1,40,640 posts in three categories of vacancies, namely – non-technical popular categories (guards, clerks etc), isolated and ministerial category and level 1 (track maintainers, pointsman etc).

10. Veteran Filmmaker Johnny Bakshi Passes Away

Veteran Hindi Filmmaker Johnny Bakshi has passed away on Saturday in a Mumbai hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 82. Bakshi was admitted to Arogya Nidhi hospital in Juhu after he complained of breathlessness. He was tested for Covid-19 on suspicion, which came out negative.

A Royal Bengal Tiger of Kaziranga National Park died in a clash between the tiger and a male wild pig. The wild pig also died as a result. This is the first death of a tiger at the hands of a pig at Kaziranga National Park.

Assam detected 2698 new coronavirus cases out of 35147 tests done in the last 24 hours, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The Covid positivity rate stands at 7.67 percent, he said.
