IIT Guwahati has retained the 7th position among the best engineering institutions of the country in the 'India Rankings 2019' of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the union ministry of human resource development.
In the overall ranking, IIT Guwahati moved upwards to the 9th place in 2019 from its 12th position in 2018.
The award was given away by President Ram Nath Kovind, in a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday.
According to media reports, the rankings were announced under nine categories – Overall, Universities, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Engineering and Law.
IIT Madras topped the list of best engineering institutes in the overall category.
