NMC Bill: AMSA to Boycott Duties on Aug 8
The Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA) will boycott all non-essential medical services including OPD, routine OT etc.) on August 8 showing solidarity with All India Federation of Government Doctors Association (AIFGDA), IMA and doctors fraternity of India in protest against the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC).
However, during the course of the protest, the AMSA members will observe smooth maintenance of emergency medical services keeping in mind about Japanese Encephalitis, Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and services in flood hit areas.
In a press release issued by AMSA, it said that all Health-A doctors will also remain absent from private practice during the period of agitation to be started from 6 AM on August 8 to 6 AM of August 9 showing solidarity to doctors fraternity. The statement further reads as, “AMSA members will give voluntary health services to flood affected people and patients suffering from fever.”
