After failing to find her name in the additional draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) published on Wednesday (June 26), a 13-year-old girl committed suicide in Kharupetia, Assam.
She was found hanging by the ceiling.
It may be mentioned here that the deceased's family was hopeful that their names would feature in the NRC's additional draft after it did not appear in the final draft NRC.
"Our names were not included in the final draft. When we found our names missing in the additional draft as well, we were shocked. After she did not find her name, she was shocked too and took the drastic step," informed a family member.
They further said that they were unaware of the fact that final NRC will be published on July 31, 2019.
