After the conclusion of claim-and-objection stage of NRC (National Register of Citizens) on Dec 31 2018, a notice has been issued by the office of Assam NRC that the process of online correction of names and other particulars appearing in the final draft of register will start from January 2 at around 10 am.
The NSK Seva Kendras are facilitated with correction forms till January 31 so the one who have correction of their names or any other particulars in the NRC draft can submit their correction forms at their respective NSK Seva Kendras.
Online correction of names in the draft NRC was earlier supposed to start in December. However, due to some technical reasons, the NRC authority is going to start the process from January 2. Both offline and online correction of names in draft NRC will continue till January 31, 2019. NRC authority is laying stress on online correction of names. For online correction, one has to visit the website nrcassam.nic.in that has a link reading 'ONLINE NRC DRAFT CORRECTION PORTAL'.
The process of filing claims and objections started on September 25 last year. It was supposed to end on December 15, but the Supreme Court, which is monitoring the entire process of updating the NRC in the state, extended the last day to December 31.
