The Centre has extended the post of NS Vishwanathan as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for one year with effect from July 4.
Vishwanathan’s current term at RBI ends on July 3.
Earlier, there were reports that Vishwanathan will get two-year extension after Viral Acharya, another Deputy Governor who quits in June, six months ahead of his scheduled end of the term.
Vishwanathan was appointed RBI Deputy Governor to replace HR Khan.
Vishwanathan was Executive Director at Central Bank before he was appointed as Deputy Governor of RBI.
