NSUI slams CM over coal syndicate

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday slammed Assam Chief Minister over the coal syndicate that has been going on in the State for a long time. Addressing the media in Guwahati, members of Assam NSUI termed CM Sonowal as Coal Mafia Sonowal.

“There are more than 200 trucks waiting to enter Assam, but we will not let that happen,” said a member of NSUI.

They alleged CM Sonowal’s direct link to the coal syndicate and said that CM Sonowal often talks about zero corruption and a syndicate-free state but in fact, the scene is to the contrary.

The members of NSUI further alleged Silchar BJP chief Kaushik Rai to be the kingpin of coal syndicate in the State. “Rai and his men collect around Rs. 60,000 from each of the truck,” they alleged.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi claimed that 4,000-5,000 rat-hole coal mines have sprung up in the State in the last three years and that too in 11 reserved forests and a wildlife sanctuary.
