Ola, Uber plan complete shutdown today

The Ola and Uber cabs will stay off the roads in Guwahati as part of the complete shutdown by the cab owner-drivers today.

The strike hits city commuters as the Cab operators had given the call in support of the 12-hour Assam bandh called by 46 organisations of the state.

On Monday, the cab operators carried out a massive rally protesting against the management of Ola and Uber services for having failed in fulfilling demands of the workers despite repeated appeals.

It may be mentioned that KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi took part in the massive protest rally, after which the cab operators decided to shut down the cab services on Tuesday.

Demanding an increase in incentives and extra bonus for duties which go beyond eight hours per day, the union has asked for minimum wage for every cab owner-driver for eight-hour service rendered daily, as per international labour laws.
