The renovation of old Saraighat Bridge has been completed and the bridge will be open for the public on Thursday. The NF Railway has informed Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal that the bridge will be open for the public at around 3 PM today.
As per the reports, some 500 workers were engaged to carry out the task of replacing all the 54 slabs on the entire upper deck and the replacement of 11 expansion joints over the pillars is in progress.
Earlier, the CM had instructed the workers to complete the renovation work of the bridge in the aforesaid time. Following which, 75 workers were engaged in breaking the slabs per day and 45 workers per day were engaged in carrying these broken pieces for cleaning.
