A special investigating team of Assam Police on Tuesday arrested one Mintu Chetia for his alleged involvement in the murder of police commando Girish Dutta at Makum in Tinsukia district of Assam on Sunday (June 2) last.

Interacting with the media, Additional Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, Asif Ali, said, "Accused Chetia who was at large after the incident has been arrested from Barekuri Borgaon area in Makum this morning and he is being interrogated."

It may be mentioned here that an unidentified gang stabbed 37-year-old Girish Dutta to death when he was returning home in Ashok Nagar from Tingrai.

Dutta got into a heated argument with a group of unidentified people over an accident on NH-38.

Even though he left the spot, the group of men, however, followed him.

Later they dragged Dutta out of his home and stabbed him to death on the road.
