Patowary claims false investment figure in Assam

Assam Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary today released false investment figure as Assam Advantage figure passing off Ministry of Petroleum related long term investment as post Advantage Assam investment.

Funnily, the Industry Minister in a press conference announced almost Rs 57,000 crore investment of which Rs 43,000 were from the Ministry of Petroleum Sector.

All of them were part of the Ministry of Petroleum's Vision 2025 plan to enhance petroleum production by 15%. Curiously, the bulk of the Mr Patowary's announced investment was NRL expansion amounting Rs 22000 crores.

This expansion has been going on almost for a decade and the NRL is on the verge of now commissioning when Mr Patowary added that in his investment portfolio.

He also claimed of National gas Grid. Baruani-Guwahati pie line as well as Guwahati city Gas, which were all long standing plans and investment by various Oil PSUs of the Ministry of Petroleum, which has got nothing to do with the Advantage Assam.

But a defiant Mr Patowary announced that on Friday said that out of 207 MoUs signed during the Advantage Assam summit, investment worth Rs. 56,776.44 crore have already been grounded. Patowary was addressing the media at Janta Bhawan in Guwahati.

Stressing upon restarting the already closed industries in the State, Patowary said that another paper mill will be constructed on the premises of Ashok Paper Mill in Jogighupa.

During his address, the minister said that a jute mill will be built at Chaygaon, and a Pepsi factory will be constructed at Rampur in South Kamrup.

He also informed that there will be a modern textile farm at Sipajhar, an MSME park will be constructed at Jagiroad, and a Tea park at Chayygaon. The minister informed that the petroleum sector in the State saw the investment of Rs. 42,782.28 crore after the Advantage Assam summit.

Speaking on the employment of the youths, the minister said that as many as 78 thousand of youths are currently being employed at different industries across the State.

He further spoke about building an InternationalLogistic Hub at Jogighupa.

Patowary also informed that Guwahati will host a Business Conclave on October 22 and October 23 and Niti Aayog will hold a meeting in Guwahati on October 31 and November 1, where Ambassadors of all Asian countries will take part.
