Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Meghalaya government for formulating it own water policy during the monthly radio broadcast Mann-Ki-Baat of All India Radio on Sunday.
“Meghalaya has become the first state to have formulated its own water-policy. I congratulate Meghalaya government. In Haryana, crops that require meagre water are being encouraged. Farmers thus are saved from suffering losses,” he said.
Sharing the thoughts, in the Mann-Ki-Baat programme, Modi also marked the calendar year 2019 as a good one for Indian space and science and maintained that the successful launch of Chandrayan-2 mission gave two basic lessons – one of faith and the other of fearlessness.
Modi also added that people of militancy-hit state Jammu and Kashmir are more than keen to join the development mainstream. They are also in favour of good governance.
“Kashmir ke hamare bhai behen, good governance chahtey haen (The brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir want good governance),” Modi made this statement.
Citing the success of community mobilization programme known as ‘Back to Village’ in the state, he added, “Power of development and progress is always more stronger than the power of bombs and guns.”
