Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the deputy leader of the Rajya Sabha. Goyal, a trusted member of the Modi Government will be the deputy to Thawarchand Gehlot who has been appointed as the Leader of the Rajya Sabha.
Gehlot, who is the two-time Rajya Sabha MP will be succeeding Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who has been elected to the Lok Sabha.
Goyal is currently a Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra who was formerly the National Treasurer of the BJP.
Thawarchand Gehlot was appointed the leader of the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, a position occupied in the previous Narendra Modi-led government by senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.
