PM Modi Avoids Hotel, Takes Bath at Airport in Foreign Transit: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cost-cutting seems to be his topmost personal priority and during the technical halts in the course of foreign visits, he opts to rest and take a bath at the airport terminals rather to stay in a luxury five-star hotel overnight.

Shah while quoted by news agency ANI said, "Earlier when PrimeMinisters went abroad, a hotel was booked for an overnight stay duringtechnical halts to get fuel but Modi ji has not booked a hotel during atechnical halt till today. He stays at the airport, takes bath there andproceeds further after refueling is done. There was an arrangement of separatevehicles for the accompanying staff. He conveyed that four to five peopleshould go in a car or a bus which should be arranged."

Shah also stated that in his personal and public life, Modi has followed a very disciplined regimen. For instance, whenever Modi goes on a state visit abroad, he takes less than 20 percent staff with him. Similarly, for the official delegation, he has discouraged using a large number of cars. Earlier officials were using separate cars, now they use a bus or a large vehicle.

Shah, while replying to the debate on the Special ProtectionGroup (Amendment) Bill, 2019, he said that security cover of SPG has beenmisused or its norms have been violated on several occasions by the Gandhifamily but Modi, who has been provided state security for the past 20 years, has never violated the security blue book.
