PM Modi praises role of doctors, calls them ‘exceptional caregivers’

On the occasion of Doctors' day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised the role of doctors stating they are saving lives by putting themselves in danger and are exceptional caregivers.

"India salutes our doctors — exceptional caregivers who are at the forefront of a spirited fight against COVID-19," he wrote on Twitter to mark Doctors' Day.

In a short video of his recent speech, the PM said, "while mothers give birth, doctors ensure our rebirth." He also said, "doctors in protective gear (PPE) are like the representatives of God" as they treat patients with COVID-19 infection.

Dr. BC Roy's birth anniversary is celebrated as Doctors' Day. PM Modi has acknowledged the doctors' role and appreciated them in his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme as well. The PM said, "India's fight against the novel coronavirus has been led by the medical community and corona warriors".
