Police arrests two accused in Simaluguri, Mariani rape and murder cases


The rape and murder of a student of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) in Simaluguri and a middle aged woman in Mariani had jolted Assam on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

In a recent development in both the cases, which had taken place in moving trains within a span of 24 hours, two accused have been arrested.

One of the murder accused, Bikash Das has reportedly confessed of being involved in both the cases.

Report of another person named Bipin Kumar Pandey being involved in both the cases and helping Das in accomplishing the crimes, has come to light.

Pandey had been arrested from Banipur Railway Station in the wee hours of Friday from Tinsukia-Bangalore Express.

Reportedly, during interrogation, Das had confessed of killing both the woman mercilessly.

“I raped and killed the girl” said Das adding “As she resisted my advances, I strangulated her using a Gamosa”.

Shockingly, reports reveal, serial killer Das had already made a blueprint of a third murder.

Speaking on both the accused being arrested, mother of the AAU student said, “We want justice. I want the accused to be punished as early as possible. I request the government to take severe actions on them and not spare them.”
