Debashish Khargharia, son of unfortunate father, actor and theatre artist Rajani Khargharia, who committed suicide on July 1, was arrested by police near Sixmile area of Guwahati on Wednesday night.
However, Police are still looking for the whereabouts of his wife Gitashree Khargharia, who has been equally blamed and accused in the case.
The noted artist committed suicide after being neglected repeatedly by his son for years. He left a suicide note blaming Debashish Khargharia's behavior for his wife's untimely death which forced him to end his own life.
The deceased left multiple suicide notes to the media fraternity, residents of the area, Police Station-in-charge and family members specifying the neglect and disregard of their son and daughter-in-law as the reason.
Debashish has been sent to police custody and being shifted to Sibsagar.
Rajani Khargharia was a 67 year old theatre personality, a socio-cultural activist, businessman, artist, student leader and an entrepreneur from Assam.
The couple reportedly had been dealing with financial troubles and their son harassed them when approached for medical assistance. The couple, through their note, has asked for exemplary punishment for their son and daughter-in-law.
