At a time, when Assam is reeling under the floodsespecially lower Assam, which is devastated by the second waves of floods, anAssam minister was seen distributing chocolates among flood-affected childrenin Baksa district on Friday.
Assam Social Welfare Minister and Kokrajhar East MLA Pramila Rani Brahma today visited the relief camps in the flood-affected Baksa district to take stock of the condition of the people. Instead of providing meals to the flood-affected people, she concluded her responsibilities by only donating chocolates to the children.
"We were hoping that the Minister would provide somerelief measures or clothes; instead she distributed chocolates among thechildren," said a flood-affected people. "We have not yet got any relief fromthe government side," added another victim.
It may be mentioned here that when the Assamgovernment is claiming that it has enough funds for rehabilitating theflood-affected people in the State, Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra NathGoswami on Thursday announced to donate his one month salary to the ChiefMinister's Relief Fund for the flood-affected people. On the other hand,several celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Seema Biswas andJatin Bora have come up with their helping hands to donate generously to theflood-affected people.
At the same time, a responsible Minister of the Assamgovernment has concluded her duties by only donating chocolates to theflood-affected people!
