In an effort to raise awareness for caring aging parents and grand parents, the Pratidin Times raises Rs 20 lakhs for an old age home.
The huge and overwhelming response and deluge of donation only proved that there was no dearth of well meaning souls.
The Pratidin Times’ program Abhimat, anchored by Editor in Chief Nitumoni Saikia, appealed to the viewers to contribute for an old age home, being constructed by a voluntary organisation.
The show was based on MOTHER OLD AGE HOME of Jyoti Nagar, Guwahati which is run and managed by a duo of two dedicated youth Utpal Harsabardhan and Monika Sarma.
Utpal and Monika had faced a complex problem as they are running MOTHER OLD AGE HOME in rental house. And house owner notified them that they have to leave the house very soon.
Social activist Mukul Mahanta donated a house for MOTHER OLD AGE HOME. However, a huge amount of money needed for the repairing and renovation works of the house. Nitumoni Saikia took this subject for his popular show ABHIMAT on Thursday.
During the show, Abhimat had raised over Rs 10 lakhs but money continued to flow in and till late night of Friday, the total had exceeded Rs 20 lakhs.
Nitumoni Saikia constantly reminded everyone how serious the issue was and how any contribution would go a long way towards the campaign.
