The contractual employees appointed under Panchayat and Rural Development Department (P&RD) has been staging protest in the respective development blocks to demand an increase of salary and regularization of their jobs.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Contractual Employees'Council, Assam had declared a series of protests from October 1 to October 3and October 10 and October 11 in support of their demands.
The organization has demanded job regularization, monthlysalary including grade pay, scale pay equal to permanent employees andfacilities as provided to regular employees. The organization also threatenedthat if the government did not take any fruitful initiative, a massive protestwould be carried out very soon.
