The All Assam Kalita Students' Union on Friday carried out a protest rally called 'Dispur Chalo' against the BJP-led state government demanding ST status and a development council for the Kalita community of the state without any further delay.
Thousands of protesters staged massive protest at veterinary playground at Khanapara in the city for their pro-longed demand.
Displaying placards and chanting slogans against Modi government, the said organisation members from all over Assam have joined the protest rally.
Many agitators had been arrested by the police.
The organisation also alleged that before election the BJP government assured to fulfill their demands, but after the elections – the state government and central government ignored the issues.
