Indian Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu has made her way into the women’s singles final of the Thailand Open World Tour Super 500 badminton tournament.
In the semi-final in Bangkok today, she defeated Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung 23-21 16-21 21-9 in a match that lasted an hour.
Sindhu needed three games, played over an hour, to get past the world junior champion, who brought her A-game to the match against the Olympic silver medalist. .
In the final, the second-seeded Indian will lock horns with Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in a rematch of the last World Championship, in which the Japanese prevailed over PV Sindhu.
Nozomi Okuhara defeated Beiwen Zhang 21-17, 21-10 in her semi-final match.
