The spirit of the people of Assam may be moistened by the weather during Durga puja. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati has forecast rainfall in Assam as well as in Meghalaya during the Durga puja period.
According to RMC, there is a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall at places like Guwahati and adjoining areas on Navami and Dashami. The RMC further said that the weather may not be conducive for puja hoppers in lower as well as in middle Assam areas.
“From October 6 to October 8, there are chances of some rainfall activity mostly in the western and central parts of Assam accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning especially in the afternoon and late evening hours,” RMC sources said. According to the sources, this is the monsoon withdrawal phase and in this phase, there are high chances of lightning striking with thunderstorms.
After Durga Puja, rainfall is likely to increase over Assam and Meghalaya, forecast issued by the RMC indicated.
