Rajen Gohain blames UPA for delay of Bogibeel construction

Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain on Monday called a press conference in New Delhi.

In the press conference, Gohain confirmed the list of guests who will be attending the inaugural ceremony of Bogibeel Bridge (India's longest rail-road bridge).

"The construction of the bridge over Brahmaputra River started in 2002 but the slow pace of work has caused much resentment among people. But, our government has done the work within 5 years."

"The construction work was very slow during the term of UPA government. I visited the work site several times for inspection." Gohain said.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the mass gathering. Minister of Railways of India Piyush Goyal, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu will attend the occasion."

"About thirty new trains to ply in Northeastern region. Electric train services to be launched by December 2019 from Guwahati."

"New train to ply between Silghat and Kolkata."

"We are thinking to launch new trains from Silghat to Delhi and South India."

"I am going to Myanmar with honorable President Ramnath Kovind and there we will discuss about Act East policy."

"The Bogibeel Bridge will be named as per state government's decision. It will be better if the bridge is named after a popular Assamese personality." Gohain added.
