India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja was nominated for the Arjuna Award by the award selection committee on Saturday. Ravindra Jadeja was named along with other 19 sportspersons.

As per reports the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recommended fast bowlers Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and women’s team leg-spinner Poonam Yadav for the Arjuna Award.

The Arjuna Awards are given to honor excellence in sports by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India. Notably, in 2018, women’s cricket team star opener Smriti Mandhana was the only cricketer to receive the prestigious award.

Ravindra Jadeja almost helped India to reach World Cup 2019 finals with a valiant 59-ball 79 innings against New Zealand in the semi-finals. It may be stated that ace wrestler Bajrang Punia and Deepa Malik are set to be awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2019 – the country’s highest sporting honor.
