Eminent educationist, linguist, author and administrator Taburam Taid passed away this morning in Guwahati’s Apollo Hospitals.
A former Chairman of SEBA, Taid was born in North Lakhimpur’s Gunasuti Oyengia Village.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his condolences on the demise of the renowned personality and has ordered the Chief Secretary to make all arrangements to honour Taid with a State Funeral.
The linguist was the founding president of the Mising Sahitya Sabha, a retired professor of Cotton College, a Assam government’s Sukapha Award recipient, Assam Sahitya Sabha’s Bimal Jalan Award recipient and a Sahitya Akademi’s Language Honour Award recipient.Taid’s last rites will be completed in Gogomukh on land selected by the Mising Autonomous Council. His mortal remains will be taken to Lakhimpur in a helicopter, said Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
