President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday appointed RN Ravi as the new Governor of Nagaland.
RN Ravi was the chief interlocutor for the Naga peace talks. On 3rd August 2015, he has signed the historic Naga framework agreement on behalf of the Union government with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) to end the decades-old Naga insurgency. Ravi is a 1976 batch IPS officer and retired as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau in 2012.
Apart from Ravi, Anandiben Patel has been appointed as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Governor of West Bengal, Ramesh Bais as the Governor of Tripura, Lal Ji Tandon as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Phagu Chauhan as the Governor of Bihar.
As per the statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, “The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.”
