Amid the rift in Assam Congress leadership over the state By-poll debacle,a delegation from Assam Congress led by Rockybul Hussain has visited All IndiaCongress Committee (AICC) GeneralSecretary K C VenugopalĀ on Monday.
The team apprised AICC general secretary about several aspects especially the outlook of indigenous people in the state after the publication of final NRC.
It is quite surprising that the team meets K C Venugopal amidst the emerging rift in state Congress, which has been reported after the latest defeat of the party in the recently held assembly by-elections in the state.
However, Hussain made it clear that they met Venugopal only to discuss about NRC and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill issue. There was not any hidden agenda.
"We don't want any change in party leadership" Hussain added.
The team comprised AjantaNeog, Rekibuddin Ahmed, Wazed Ali Choudhury, Ilias Ali, Nurul Huda, Motiur RahmanMandal, Sherman Ali, Roshid Alam, Nandita Das, Jakir Hussain Sikdar etc.
