The international magazine Forbes published its annual list of World’s Highest Paid Entertainers on Tuesday and India’s Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan have grabbed two spots on the coveted list.
Akshay, 50, and Salman, 52, are the only Indians on the list. Akshay is ranked 76th on the list while Salman is on the 82nd position. Shah Rukh Khan, a regular appearance on the list, is however missing.
About Akshay, the magazine said, “he has transitioned to socially-conscious roles, such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, a comedy supporting government campaigns to improve sanitation, and Pad Man about a guy hoping to provide inexpensive sanitary pads to rural communities”.
As for Salman, the magazine praised the actor by saying that he is Bollywood’s mainstay who “continues to produce and star in hits such as Tiger Zinda Hai, cashing in on backend profits. Coupled with a slew of endorsements from Suzuki motorcycles to Chlormint gum, he remains one of India’s top earners.”
The annual list by the magazine features actors, musicians, comedians and other personalities in the entertainment industry. 11 stars this year have crossed the $100 million threshold, with Mayweather topping the ranking with $285 million.
