Retired Indian Army Officer, Mohammad Sanaullah, could not make it to the Final National Register of Citizens (NRC), which was published today. He was not included in the list as his appeal against the Foreigners’ Tribunal’s (FT) order was pending in Gauhati High Court.
It may be mentioned here that he had grabbed the headlines after he was declared a foreigner. Along with Sanaullah, name of his daughters, Shahnaz Akhtar and Hilmina Akhtar, and son, Saeed Akhtar are also missing from the NRC list.
“We will wait for disposal of my appeal in High Court before taking any other recourse,” Sanaullah was quoted as saying by HT.
According to NRC authorities, 3,11,21,004 people were found eligible for inclusion in the Final NRC leaving out 19,06,657 people. The left out people also included the names of those, who did not submit claims.
